Scenes from Pete 'Pride & Class' truck show in Texas

Jan 14, 2024

Peterbilt hosted a number of customers, media and others at Texas Motor Speedway last week for its "Pride & Class" truck show that coincided with the unveiling of the new Model 589, the successor to the 389.

The judged show, with more than 200 competing rigs, wrapped up with results as follows:

Best Bobtail – Josh Burch of East Texas Truck Center with this beautyCourtesy of Peterbilt

People's Choice – Conrad Shada's 2020 389 glider / livestock haulerCourtesy of Peterbilt

There were two Antique winners, including this beauty from Rick McClerkin of Roadway Antique Trucks.Courtesy of Peterbilt

The other Antique winners, Jake and Rosie Wheeler, spoke to personal history when Jake noted his father was always asked, "Why do you always drive them fancy Peterbilts?" His dad, Wheeler said, would answer the question this way: "Is there any other?", adding he "didn't get A/C in it, because it was more noble to sweat than to look gawdy."

Finally, Best in Show – Zack Strayer of Strayer Sow Farms' pictured beautyCourtesy of Peterbilt

Among others who showed were a few Overdrive readers may well recognize from past show coverage:

Overdrive sister publication CCJ's editor Jason Cannon was on-hand at the event, capturing numerous views from a whole host of rigs in the 359-379-389 ancestral lineage of the new Peterbilt Model 589. Catch plenty more below.
