Hand Truck Goes Through Tolland Business, Handcuffs Go On Suspect

Jul 01, 2023

TOLLAND, CT — A hand truck went through through the window of a Tolland business earlier this month and a man who wandered away from the scene has been charged, state police said.

At 5:11 a.m. on May 2, state police responded to a break-in alarm at the Citgo gas station at 128 Merrow Road.

The front window of the business had been broken with a hand truck, but it appeared no one actually entered the building, according to an arrest report.

Troopers then located a 32-year-old Hartford man walking west on Tolland Stage Road between Burbank and Peter Green Roads and, after questioning, determined he was responsible.

The man was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief, according to an arrest report.
